I would like you to introduce the concept of doubling with your child.
Today we will learn about doubling in the sense that doubles occur when there are two groups/objects of equal quantities/size/value.
To illustrate this, help your child make a finger/hand painting on a piece of paper/baking parchment/old newspaper. Here are some examples in the pictures below.
You could use paint, mud from the garden, jam, ink, felt tip ink on fingers, food dyes, ketchup, gravy browning – anything you can think of to illustrate this point.
Spend some time helping your child to see that a double results in two identical pairs.
