Show your child the above video to warm up their brains. Let them dance along if they wish to. They could show some of the doubles using the fingers on their hands if they wish to,

 

Today, we will build on yesterday’s learning by utilising the mirror doubling concept, but today we will attempt some recording of this. Using whatever you can write some doubles calculations for your child without giving the total (i.e. 2 + 2 =

 

Encourage them to solve this by putting the first value in front of the mirror ( for example 2 objects, if using in our example above) and then counting all to find the total (counting the objects AND the number of reflections.)

 

Encourage them to write the total down once they have done this. See the image below as an example.
