We expect all pupils to wear our school uniform. Our uniform has been chosen to be smart, practical and affordable, and we aim to keep the number of compulsory branded items to a minimum.

School uniform is compulsory for all children that attend our school. Children are expected to arrive at school every day wearing the correct school uniform. The school uniform is as follows:

School Uniform

• Grey traditional-style school trousers, shorts, skirts or  dresses
• White traditional-style shirt, blouse or polo shirt
• Red school jumper or cardigan – pupils are expected to have at least one jumper or cardigan bearing the Springhead school logo
• Plain black school shoes – no boots, trainers, sports logo or colour
• White or dark-coloured socks or tights

PE Kit 

• Red  T-shirt
• Black shorts

A school-branded PE T-shirt is available to purchase, but a branded PE T-shirt is not compulsory. A plain red T-shirt may be worn.

Optional

• Red and white checked summer dress
• Red school fleece for outer wear
• Red, white, black or grey head covering for religious purposes

Choosing the Correct School Uniform

Parents and carers are welcome to purchase non-branded uniform from any retailer. However, please be aware that items advertised or labelled by retailers as ‘school uniform’ do not necessarily meet the uniform requirements of our school. 

Our uniform expectations are set by the school and apply regardless of how an item is described or marketed by a retailer.

To help avoid any uncertainty, examples of the style and type of uniform permitted at Springhead can be seen through the uniform supplier links below. Non-branded alternatives purchased elsewhere should be of the same or a similar traditional school-uniform style.

If you are unsure whether an item meets our uniform requirements, particularly before purchasing it, please contact the school office and we will be happy to advise.

Parents and carers may purchase all non-branded items from any retailer of their choice.

Second-Hand Uniform

We recognise the importance of keeping the cost of school uniform affordable for families. Second-hand uniform is made available periodically throughout the school year.

Parents and carers who would benefit from second-hand uniform at other times are welcome to contact the school office. Where suitable items are available, we will be happy to provide these.

Jewellery, Hair and Appearance

Jewellery and nail varnish are not permitted in school. Children may wear a watch and, if they have pierced ears, small stud earrings. Earrings which are unsuitable for school must be removed for safety.

Long hair should be tied back where necessary. Hair may be worn in braids, cornrows, plaits or other styles.

Hair accessories should be simple and practical and used primarily to keep hair neat and secure. Plain bobbles, bands, clips and headbands may be worn in colours appropriate to the school uniform. Decorative materials or accessories, including fabric, ribbon, beads or similar items, should not be woven into or attached to the hair.

Extreme hairstyles, shaved patterns or unnatural hair colours are not permitted.
