Diwali
Diwali
This week, children in Dragonfly class have been learning all about Diwali – the Festival of Lights! We explored how Diwali is celebrated around the world and discovered that it is a time for light, love, and new beginnings.
The children listened to the story of Rama and Sita, learning about good triumphing over evil and the importance of kindness and friendship. They took part in a range of fun, hands-on activities, including:
Creating beautiful rangoli patterns using shapes.
Making and decorating diyas to symbolise light and hope.
Exploring Indian music and dance, moving to traditional rhythms and sounds.
Using positional and descriptive language to talk about their designs and decorations.
Through play, storytelling, and creative expression, the children developed their understanding of different cultures and celebrations while strengthening their speaking, listening, and fine motor skills.
It was a joyful, colourful week that helped everyone appreciate the beauty of light, sharing, and togetherness — the true spirit of Diwali!
