Equality Information and Objectives (2024–2028)

 Our Commitment to Equality

We are committed to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion for all pupils, staff, parents and visitors. We aim to ensure that every member of our school community feels valued, respected and able to participate fully in school life.

We recognise our duties under the Equality Act 2010 and the Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED). In carrying out our duties, we have due regard to the need to:

  • eliminate discrimination, harassment and victimisation

  • advance equality of opportunity

  • foster good relations between people who share a protected characteristic and those who do not

Equality is not viewed as a separate strand of work; it is embedded within our curriculum, teaching, pastoral systems and relationships with families.

Our Equality Information and Objectives sit at the heart of our whole-school approach to equity, inclusion and high expectations for all pupils.

These objectives work alongside our:

  • Beyond Funding: A Whole-School Commitment to Equity and Inclusion report

  • Pupil Premium Strategy

  • SEND Information Report

Together, these documents reflect a coherent and joined-up approach to supporting pupils who may face barriers to learning, participation or wellbeing.

While the Pupil Premium Strategy and Beyond Funding report outline how we support disadvantaged pupils, and the SEND School Offer explains how we meet the needs of pupils with special educational needs and disabilities, our Equality Objectives provide the wider strategic framework. They set out how we:

  • promote fairness and inclusion for all pupils

  • remove barriers to learning and participation

  • ensure equitable access to high-quality teaching, support and enrichment

  • foster positive relationships and respect within our diverse school community

This approach ensures that equality is not dependent on funding labels or individual needs alone, but is embedded consistently across our curriculum, pastoral systems and everyday practice.

How We Identified Our Equality Objectives

Our equality objectives have been identified through:

  • analysis of attainment, progress, attendance and behaviour data

  • monitoring of outcomes for different pupil groups, including vulnerable pupils

  • review of pastoral records and safeguarding information

  • pupil voice and parent feedback

  • ongoing self-evaluation and school improvement planning

These objectives work alongside but beyond specific funding streams such as Pupil Premium and SEND, reflecting our whole-school commitment to equity and inclusion for all.

We have 4 equality objectives for our school.

Objective 1: Attainment and Progress

To reduce attainment gaps for vulnerable groups by strengthening inclusive, high-quality teaching and early intervention.

We will achieve this by:

  • ensuring all pupils access an ambitious, well-sequenced curriculum

  • identifying barriers to learning early through robust assessment and monitoring

  • using targeted support to supplement, not replace, high-quality classroom teaching

  • monitoring progress and outcomes for identified groups and adapting provision where necessary

Objective 2: Attendance, Engagement and Inclusion

To improve attendance, engagement and inclusion for pupils at risk of disadvantage or exclusion.

We will achieve this by:

  • monitoring attendance closely and responding early to emerging concerns

  • working in partnership with families to address barriers to attendance

  • providing strong pastoral support to promote emotional security and readiness to learn

  • maintaining high expectations while offering graduated, supportive intervention

Objective 3: Respect, Belonging and Positive Relationships

To promote positive relationships, mutual respect and understanding across our diverse school community.

We will achieve this by:

  • embedding equality, diversity and British Values across the curriculum and assemblies

  • challenging discrimination, prejudice-based language and behaviour consistently

  • ensuring pupils learn about and respect different cultures, faiths and beliefs

  • fostering a school culture where differences are recognised and valued

Objective 4: Access to Enrichment and Wider Opportunities

To ensure equitable access to enrichment, experiences and wider curriculum opportunities for all pupils.

We will achieve this by:

  • removing financial, social or emotional barriers to participation

  • ensuring vulnerable pupils can access trips, clubs and enrichment activities

  • providing experiences that build confidence, resilience and cultural understanding

  • monitoring participation to ensure inclusion across all pupil groups
